School’s out which means it’s time to stop spending your weekly paycheck at Whole Foods to feed your finals stress eating and use your hard earned $13 an hour to TREAT. YO. SELF. I’m big on treating myself- an A on a paper, a new PR for my tempo run time or simply because I remembered to wish a family member happy birthday. Now, you’re probably thinking, “okay, so you just waste your money for dumb reasons.” You would be wrong. I’m very frugal when it comes to money so I make sure that my disposable income is put to good use. My latest industry to invest in is beauty. From facemasks, make up, or a cream to make your eye lids perfectly dewy, the beauty industry has something for everyone.
My number one recent buy is Glossier’s boy brow brush. If that’s not enough alliteration for you the product comes in Blonde, Brown and Black. Glossier is an established makeup company known for products like their Generation G lipstick that gives the finish look of a matte lip stain but glides on like a tinted lip balm. BUT, my absolute favorite is their eyebrow product. Their boy brow brush stays true to the company’s statement:
“We’re laying the foundation for a beauty movement that celebrates real girls, in real life. Glossier is a new way of thinking about (and shopping for) beauty products. Because “beauty” should be fun, easy, imperfect, and personal. Above all, we believe that you give life to products-products don’t breathe life into you.”
I’ve always been apprehensive about putting any kind of makeup near eyebrows due to the natural thickness of them. The boy brow brush enhances the natural elements of your eyebrows with a sheer pigment that gives them a relaxed “oomph”. This makes them look fuller and even with a flexible hold doesn’t stiffen or flake. “Brush your teeth, brush your brows, and then maybe brush your hair,” they say… probably not the last.
If their products weren’t remarkable enough, their packing is genuine bringing a smile to the consumer’s face before even applying the product. An all pink box illuminates the phrase on the top reading, “Skin First. Makeup Second. Smile Always.” A poster, a primer sample, a set of stickers and finally their infamous pink bubble wrap zipped bag with my ordered beauty product. This simple bubbly, clutch- like packaging has become so popular that they’re selling them by the fives on their website.
